Cordie and Jason officially tied the knot during a gorgeous summer wedding at the Cosmos Club in Washington, DC. One of the things I love most about photographing weddings in the District is that no two days are ever quite the same. There’s always a little unpredictability woven into the timeline, and after photographing weddings here for more than a decade, I’ve learned exactly where to build in extra time so couples can simply enjoy their day, even when the unexpected happens.

For Cordie and Jason, that little bit of unpredictability came in the form of Pride Weekend! As people from all over the country gathered to celebrate throughout Washington, DC, roads were closed for the parade and traffic moved at a much slower pace than usual. Fortunately, both the Cosmos Club and St. Matthew’s Cathedral, their ceremony venue, were on the same side of the parade route, which meant we didn’t have to navigate any major road closures. Even so, we planned ahead, building plenty of buffer time into the schedule, and everything stayed right on track. It’s the perfect example of why having an experienced vendor team makes such a difference on a busy wedding day!

One of my favorite parts of the day was hearing about how Cordie and Jason first met while they were in college and how their relationship has continued to grow over the years. It was evident throughout the day that they have built a strong foundation together, surrounded by an incredible group of family and friends who were genuinely excited to celebrate this next chapter alongside them. Their joy was contagious from beginning to end.

Don’t miss their sunset portraits at the Cosmos Club — they are some of my favorite from the entire day!

I loved photographing Emma and Mason’s engagement session at the Washington National Cathedral in Washington, DC. We captured their photos on a beautiful spring morning in late May, and the timing could not have worked out better. Originally, we had planned to photograph their engagement session earlier in the month, but the April showers seemed determined to linger well into spring. After watching the forecast and debating our options, we ultimately decided to postpone. As it turns out, that decision was absolutely worth it. We were rewarded with clear skies, gorgeous light, and even a bit of crisp morning air—a welcome change from the hot and humid mornings we’re often accustomed to by this time of year in Washington.

We began our session in the Bishop’s Garden, one of my favorite locations on the Cathedral grounds.  I’ll be the first to admit that I don’t know much about gardening, but one thing that always amazes me about the National Cathedral is how vibrant the gardens remain throughout the year. From March through November, the grounds are constantly evolving as seasonal blooms are rotated in and out. No matter when I visit, there always seems to be something new flowering, and the spring colors were certainly showing off for Emma and Mason’s session. The combination of lush greenery, colorful blooms, and historic architecture creates such a timeless backdrop for engagement photos.

One of the reasons I love photographing at the Washington National Cathedral is that I always seem to discover a new nook, no matter how many times I’ve been there. Even after years of photographing sessions on these grounds, there are still hidden pathways and pockets of light that inspire me.

Emma and Mason were a joy to photograph as we wandered through the property together.  I’m so grateful they trusted me to document this fleeting chapter before their wedding day arrives. It was a beautiful morning spent exploring one of Washington’s most iconic locations, and I can’t wait to share more from their session.

Melina and Teddy were married in a gorgeous garden ceremony followed by a beachfront reception at Beaches Negril in Jamaica. It was one of those wedding days that perfectly reminded everyone that sometimes the best moments happen when things don’t go exactly according to plan.

The day started exactly as you would expect for a wedding on a tropical island in May: hot. And not just a little hot, I mean the kind of heat that makes you immediately start looking for shade. After photographing details in the bridal suite, I made my way across the resort to the ceremony location, and I genuinely found myself wondering how some of the guests were going to survive sitting outside for the ceremony.

But then, in what felt like perfect timing, nature stepped in. Almost the exact moment Melina began walking down the aisle, a massive cloud rolled overhead and provided a blanket of shade for the entire ceremony. It was one of those moments that felt almost too perfect to be a coincidence. The temperature instantly became more comfortable, guests could relax and enjoy the ceremony, and somehow the cloud managed to stay overhead without dropping a single raindrop.

Following the ceremony, we spent some time exploring the gardens for portraits. The lush tropical greenery made for a beautiful backdrop, and although the weather continued to tease us with a few sprinkles, it held off long enough for us to complete all of the family and wedding party photos. Just as we wrapped up, however, the skies finally opened up with one of those classic Caribbean rain showers, sending everyone running for cover. The rain delayed cocktail hour slightly, but no one seemed to mind. Guests simply gathered indoors, enjoyed each other’s company, and waited for the storm to pass.

And then came the reward. Once the rain moved through, the sky transformed into something I can only describe as magical. It created one of the most spectacular sunsets I have ever photographed on a wedding day. The colors were so vibrant that the images almost look edited beyond reality, yet they aren’t. The sky was somehow colorful, dramatic, cloudy, and sunny all at once. It doesn’t entirely make sense when you try to describe it, but you’ll understand exactly what I mean when you see the photos. While I would never wish rain on a wedding day, the aftermath of this particular storm almost made it worth it. We were able to continue the evening exactly as planned, and the celebration carried on with incredible energy. Guests danced the night away under the stars, and the evening concluded with an unforgettable performance by fire dancers on the beach, a fitting finale to such a memorable day.

Melina and Teddy, thank you for inviting me to be part of your wedding weekend in Jamaica. It was such a joy getting to know your families and witness the love and support surrounding the two of you. I am so grateful I was there to document it all.

Prior to Melina and Teddy’s beach wedding in Jamaica, I arrived a few days early to Sandals Negril. Part of that was simply to enjoy the island, but the bigger reason is that I always prefer to build in extra time before a destination wedding. Flights get delayed, luggage gets lost, and unexpected travel hiccups happen. I’d much rather arrive early, get settled, and be ready to go than risk any last-minute issues.

Since we had a little extra time before the wedding festivities officially began, I asked Melina and Teddy if they would be interested in a beach engagement session. They had already done an engagement session with me among the cherry blossoms in Washington, DC, but this felt like an opportunity for something completely different. With their wedding celebrations taking place on the beach, it seemed fitting to capture another chapter of their story against the backdrop of Negril’s famous turquoise waters and white sand beaches.

One of the unexpected benefits of arriving early to any destination wedding is getting to learn the location. I pay attention to where the sun rises and sets, how the light moves throughout the day, and what the local weather patterns are like. What I quickly learned about Jamaica in May is that the weather has a mind of its own. A storm can last five minutes or an hour. It might be a light sprinkle or a complete downpour. And the forecast Let’s just say the forecast is more of a suggestion than a guarantee. The weather seems to come and go whenever it pleases. I noticed that many of these showers tended to roll through during the evening, which is exactly what happened during our session.

Fortunately, instead of ruining the experience, the rain ended up making it even better. If you look through the photos, some of my favorites are the ones captured while a light rain was falling. There’s something incredibly romantic about them. They have that dreamy, cinematic feel that reminds me of scenes from The Notebook. The overcast skies softened the light, the beach emptied out, and Melina and Teddy simply embraced the moment together.

As an added bonus, the session gave them a chance to see firsthand how I approach unexpected weather. Destination weddings often come with a little unpredictability, and when the rain made an appearance during their wedding weekend, they already knew there was no reason to stress. We’d already proven that beautiful photos were possible no matter what the forecast decided to do.

I’m also completely obsessed with the outfits they chose for the session. Melina looked effortlessly elegant in a classic white swimsuit paired with a flowing pareo, while Teddy kept things timeless with crisp beach attire. The neutral tones complemented the vibrant blues and greens of the Caribbean perfectly, creating a look that felt sophisticated without being overly formal. This session ended up being the perfect start to an incredible wedding weekend. It gave us a chance to slow down, explore the island, and create some beautiful memories before the celebrations officially began.

Melina and Teddy, thank you for trusting me to document not only your wedding day but these quieter moments in between. Looking back on these images makes me want to hop on a plane and head right back to Negril.

Kelly and Tim were married this spring at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in DC. Despite being a Washington, DC wedding photographer for more than 13 years, this was actually my first time photographing a wedding there. I have to admit, I was completely blown away when I pulled up to the property. I had no idea that such a sprawling resort-style venue existed right in the heart of the District. The Omni Shoreham is full of stunning architecture, grand ballrooms, and what felt like endless hallways, each one more beautiful than the last. I made a point to arrive early so I could explore the property, get my bearings, and scout portrait locations before the festivities began. As it turns out, that extra time came in handy later in the day!

One of my favorite spaces was Kelly’s bridal suite. The room featured rich dark wood details and beautifully patterned wallpaper that immediately caught my eye. Normally, I gravitate toward clean, neutral walls for bridal portraits, but the moment I stepped into this room I knew it was something special. Thankfully, Kelly trusted my vision, and the space created the perfect backdrop for some truly timeless portraits. And can we talk about her veil It was absolutely breathtaking. Kelly’s mother handmade it herself, spending countless hours carefully hand-beading the trim. Knowing the amount of love and craftsmanship that went into creating such a meaningful piece made it even more special, and it photographed beautifully.

After Kelly was dressed and ready, we headed out to one of the portrait locations I had selected earlier in the day… just as it started raining. Of course, there had been no rain in the forecast! Suddenly, everyone was pivoting to the backup plan. Thankfully, the wedding team jumped into action, and we were able to adjust seamlessly. By the time Kelly and Tim finished their first look, the storm had completely passed and the sun was shining again. Talk about weather whiplash!

The rest of the evening unfolded exactly as planned, which came as no surprise with Stephanie from SRS Events at the helm. I’ve had the pleasure of working alongside Stephanie several times over the past decade, and she consistently delivers some of the most beautiful and flawlessly executed events. Her attention to detail and ability to keep everything running smoothly is truly unmatched.

It was such a wonderful day from beginning to end, and I’m so grateful I had the opportunity to be part of Kelly and Tim’s celebration. Enjoy a peek into their beautiful wedding day, and be sure not to miss their fun dance floor send-off!

Over the past decade, the way people meet has evolved in such a fascinating way. So many of my couples have found each other through dating apps and honestly, it’s easy to see why. Apps open up your world beyond your immediate circle, connecting you with people you may have never crossed paths with otherwise. They allow you to find common ground quickly, whether it’s shared interests, values, or even just a similar sense of humor. And in a fast-paced world, they give people the chance to be intentional about finding love, rather than simply waiting for it to happen. But even with all of that, there’s still something undeniably magical about meeting the “old fashioned way.”

Enter: Gracie and Jimmy.

These two met at a wedding in Italy; already the kind of setting that feels straight out of a movie! Gracie was friends with Jimmy’s stepsister (the bride!), who naturally introduced the two. They spent most of the evening talking, laughing, and dancing together. But in her own Cinderella moment, Gracie slipped away early the next morning, leaving behind just the memory of one perfect night. Once back in the States, they reconnected… and the rest, as they say, is history.

Jimmy recently moved to Washington, DC for work, with Gracie not far behind. Together, they’ve been embracing this new chapter and exploring the city. We’re already planning to reconnect next spring to photograph them among DC’s iconic cherry blossoms. Work schedules meant they missed that fleeting window this year, but instead of feeling disappointed, they leaned into the idea of documenting their life here in different ways over time. So for this session, we chose another DC classic: the US Capitol.

A misty, quiet morning gave us the gift of having the city nearly to ourselves. We wandered through the surrounding streets, stopping by the Senate buildings and the Library of Congress, soaking in every bit of the morning. Enjoy a little glimpse into their Washington, DC love story.

Some wedding days just have a kind of magic you can’t plan for, and Abby and Curtis’ February wedding in Washington, DC was exactly that. When they chose a winter date, they did it fully expecting cold temperatures. February in DC isn’t exactly known for being forgiving, and they knew that going in. But honestly, that mindset felt very them from the start. Abby and Curtis planned their wedding with this beautiful sense of freedom; not worrying too much about what the weather might do, what traditions they “should” follow, or what anyone else expected. They were simply focused on getting married.

And somehow, the universe rewarded that attitude. Their wedding day turned out to be one of the most beautiful February days I can remember in the district. It was even before “false spring” usually teases us. The snow and ice had finally melted, the air felt fresh, and the temperature climbed to an unbelievable 70 degrees. Truly a one-off kind of day. The kind that feels like a deep breath after a long winter. For Abby, that meant something especially nice: she didn’t have to spend a single moment worrying about being cold in her sleeveless dress. With outdoor portraits planned at the Jefferson Memorial, that warmth felt like a little gift. You could feel the relief and joy as we wandered around taking photos, soaking in a day that felt more like April than February.

Their ceremony and reception took place at the National Museum of Women in the Arts, and the setting could not have fit them better. NMWA provided the most beautiful, art-filled backdrop for a day that was entirely about intention and personality. One of the most meaningful parts of the day was that Abby and Curtis actually officiated their own ceremony. Instead of following a standard script, they crafted something deeply personal, weaving in the parts of their religious beliefs that felt authentic to them as a couple. It was thoughtful, emotional, and incredibly genuine.

And then the party started. Because of their shared love of sports (and the city they call home), they surprised their guests by inviting the Washington Nationals Racing Presidents to hit the dance floor during the reception. Watching these giant mascots dancing through the crowd at NMWA was exactly the kind of joyful, slightly unexpected moment that perfectly summed up the entire day. Abby and Curtis truly did their wedding their way. No pressure, no unnecessary expectations — just a celebration of their union on their terms. And honestly It was one of my favorite weddings I’ve ever photographed.

As a DC wedding photographer, there are few venues as timeless and romantic as the Meridian House and Mary and Alan’s October wedding was the perfect showcase of its charm. Set on a crisp fall Saturday, their celebration was a stunning blend of classic elegance and personal detail, brought to life flawlessly by Caroline Dutton Events. I’ve had the privilege of working with Caroline for many years, and her wedding day vision never disappoint. From the invitation suite to the reception table settings, every design element was thoughtful and cohesive. Her curated team of top DC wedding vendors executed every detail seamlessly.

Mary and Alan said “I do” beneath a beautiful floral arch by Sweet Root Village, with Laura Cannon officiating, surrounded by their closest family and friends. Following the ceremony, guests enjoyed cocktail hour in the Linden Grove, complete with live painting by Elena Fay, before entering a reception space styled in soft greens and blues — perfectly complementing the historic decor of this iconic Washington, DC wedding venue. As the evening continued, guests danced indoors or relaxed under the stars, making the most of a perfect October night in DC.

Being trusted to document this Meridian House wedding was an honor. Mary and Alan’s day was filled with so much joy, beauty, and intention, everything I love capturing as a wedding photographer here in Washington, DC!

You  might remember this sweet couple, Ashton and Anthony, from their engagement photos at the Washington National Cathedral last summer. Getting to photograph them again was such a gift. This time, we met on a crisp fall morning for sunrise portraits at the Jefferson Memorial in Washington, DC — only this session was extra special because they brought along their wedding attire for some truly timeless bridal portraits.

Late October in the District is always magical, and on this particular morning, the leaves were at their absolute peak. We had a blustery breeze sweeping across the Tidal Basin, but Ashton and Anthony embraced it fully, taking each gust as another excuse to hold each other close. Their joy and warmth more than made up for the chill in the air.

Because this session took place during the government shutdown, the National Mall was unusually quiet. While the monuments remained open, there were no staff on site and almost no visitors in the early hours. It felt like we had the entire Jefferson Memorial to ourselves; an incredibly rare gift in a city that’s usually buzzing with tourists. The stillness created an intimate, almost cinematic atmosphere that allowed us to move freely and focus entirely on the two of them, without waiting for crowds to pass or searching for open spaces.

One of the highlights of the morning was photographing Ashton’s stunning wedding gown. If you can believe it, the dress was handmade by Anthony’s mother. She is an incredibly talented seamstress who has created custom gowns for all the women in their family — even her own! Each dress is designed with the wearer’s personality and unique style in mind, making this a beautiful family tradition and such a meaningful detail to document.

Spending the morning with Ashton and Anthony again reminded me why I love what I do. Their connection, their laughter, and the traditions they share made this session unforgettable. I’m so grateful to have been a small part of their story and wish them all the happiness in their married life ahead.

Emily and Mat were married on a cozy fall day in an intimate, private ceremony at the Inn at Little Washington. For anyone unfamiliar with this iconic venue, the Inn is a luxury country retreat tucked away in Washington, Virginia, known not only for its warmth and charm but also for its world-renowned Michelin-starred restaurant. It’s the kind of place where every corner feels intentional, indulgent, and quietly magical.

Upon arriving, I felt instantly enchanted by the town itself. The entire main street was lined with quaint shops, each one dressed to the nines in autumn splendor with towering cornstalk bundles, dried corn, and pumpkin displays so elaborate they felt like art installations. It was the perfect introduction to the atmosphere Emily and Mat had envisioned. Inside the Inn, the magic continued. Their in-house florist had transformed every tabletop into a celebration of texture and color, with lush seasonal arrangements that felt both luxurious and deeply rooted in the spirit of fall.

Emily and Mat were staying in the Gamekeeper’s Cottage, an aptly named rustic hideaway inspired by old-world hunting lodges. The cottage’s porch overlooked the Blue Ridge Mountains, an especially meaningful backdrop for these two hailing from Colorado, who wanted the mountains and peak foliage to frame their images. Late October delivered exactly that: sweeping views of reds, ambers, and golden yellows that seemed to glow even under a soft blanket of lingering clouds.

Despite the threat of rain, the skies held off just long enough for us to complete their portraits. The muted light, the crisp air, and the vibrant leaves created a painterly setting that made every moment feel intimate and timeless.

It is always an honor to photograph elopements, and being invited into such a heartfelt day is something I never take for granted. I’m so grateful to Emily and Mat for trusting me to document their beautiful celebration at the Inn at Little Washington.

Margaux and Keith were married on a perfect fall Saturday in the heart of Washington, DC, at the timeless St. Regis hotel. Their love story started the way many modern romances do: on Hinge, of course. But what began with a first date in the loud, dimly lit basement of The Crown and Crow quickly turned into something much more. That night sparked the beginning of their journey together, later cemented by their mutual love of steak (a solid foundation, if you ask me!).

Their wedding day was the definition of classic elegance with a dash of fun, just like the two of them. With the St. Regis as their venue, they were already surrounded by rich history and refined charm, but the celebration truly came to life during their portrait session at the iconic DC War Memorial. Nestled in the heart of the city, the location provided a stunning and monumental backdrop for photos with their wedding party, friends, and family.

After a heartfelt ceremony and dinner, the reception transitioned into one of the most memorable parts of the evening: the speeches. Margaux’s sister, Keith’s best friend, and the father of the bride all took the mic, and each delivered a speech that was personal, funny, and deeply moving. They were filled with stories, shared history, and inside jokes told in such a way that even those hearing them for the first time felt like they were part of the moment. But if there had to be a winner, it might just go to the bride’s dad, Ken. His speech brought the house down, especially when he pulled out a hat with the words “put it on my husband’s tab” sending the crowd into laughter and applause. Sorry, Caroline and Mark, I think Ken may have stolen the show!

All in all, Margaux and Keith’s day was a joyful, unforgettable celebration of love, laughter, and community — the kind of day that often reminds me of exactly why I love being a DC wedding photographer!

This November, I had the incredible honor of capturing Emma and Lev’s wedding at the iconic Willard InterContinental Hotel in Washington, DC. With the holiday season just beginning to stir throughout the city, decorations were popping up, the streets were lively, and the festive energy was in the air. To avoid the typical hustle and bustle of DC this time of year, Emma and Lev chose to keep everything within The Willard; a decision that ensured a seamless, stress-free day.

Emma, a true lover of all things vintage, had fallen in love with The Willard long before meeting Lev. The Crystal Ballroom, in particular, with its baby blue ceilings, green marble columns, gilded moldings, and glittering crystal chandeliers, felt like the perfect reflection of her elegant style. So perfect, in fact, that Emma and Lev reserved their date for the last available Saturday in 2025 even before they were officially engaged!

Every detail of their day was carefully curated. From Emma’s custom gown adorned with vintage floral appliqués from France to the dusty blue tiered cake, each element reflected her thoughtful and unique vision. The entire day came together flawlessly, thanks to the incredible guidance of Events by PG, who executed every detail with elegance and precision. The wedding itself was a beautiful blend of romance, sophistication, and personal touches; a day that felt intimate yet grand, timeless yet entirely unique to Emma and Lev.

As their photographer, it was a joy to capture the love, laughter, and magical details that made their day so special. Being a part of their celebration was truly an honor, and I am thrilled to share a glimpse of their unforgettable November wedding.
