Hay Adams Hotel Wedding in Washington, DC

Hannah and Connor were married in a beautiful summer wedding at the Hay Adams hotel in Washington, DC. It was an absolutely perfect Saturday; August is typically known for being the peak month of heat. And if you’re from the District, then you probably know that the DC area is lovingly referred to as a “swamp” due to its almost unbearable humidity. But by some sort of luck, it was truly just an ideal day that felt like we were sweeping into fall an entire month early. I can’t think of a couple that deserved it more — these two nearly froze to death at their January Lincoln Memorial engagement session. I mean, don’t get me wrong, it’s still one of my favorite sessions at the Reflecting Pool of all time — as these two were brave enough to get on the ice for a few shots after it had frozen over the night before — but that tells you just how cold it really was!

I digress… besides being total weather troopers, Hannah and Conner are just lovely, kind, thoughtful people. If I had to manifest my perfect bride and groom to work with, they would be it. Not only did they ensure their wedding party was full all day, from a gourmet breakfast to a Domino’s lunch (more on that in a minute!), but they also crafted every part of their day with such love and attention to detail to ensure their guests would feel cared for.

Now about that Domino’s — maybe my very favorite part of this wedding day! Back in college, Hannah, Conner, and her maid of honor would wake up early, after a night of fun, and be absolutely starving. Despite it being 10:30 in the morning, they weren’t craving breakfast food; only pizza would suffice. And the only place open? You guessed it, Domino’s! And so it became a tradition for these three during their time together at UVA. With a huge gap between their ceremony and reception, they figured what would be fun than recreating the pizza parties they had as college students!?
