Classic St. Regis Wedding in Washington, DC

JJ and Jonathan were married at the elegant St. Regis hotel in downtown Washington, DC on the perfect fall day. Typically, October is the best month of the whole year in the District; temperatures are idyllic, the leaves are beginning to change, and there is a crispness lingering in the air. This year, however, had been different — most weekends were unseasonably cold and often filled with rainy weather. Luckily for us, it felt like October wanted one last chance to show off on the last weekend of the month, and presented us with the most beautiful day possible — full of nothing but warmth and sunshine. Guests were able to enjoy their ceremony and cocktail hour on the Astor Terrace before heading into the ballroom for the reception.

The St. Regis, however, wasn’t the only elegant thing about this special day. One look at the photos below and you’ll see that JJ simply radiates poise and beauty. She looked like a regal princess in her long sleeve gown, complete with the most stunning family heirloom jewelry that I think I’ve ever photographed in my decade plus of weddings! Jonathan was equally dapper in his classic black suit, matching her level of sophistication to a “t”.

One of my favorite things about this wedding was that many guests only spoke either English or Chinese — to ensure everyone felt welcome, JJ & Jonathan were very thoughtful about having speeches conducted in both languages and having ceremony translations available for guests as well. These small details show how caring of a couple these two are, both individually and together. It’s clear they have a special bond and it was truly an honor to document their St. Regis wedding in DC!
