Morgan and Fran were married at a private estate in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains earlier this June. A sailcloth-tented wedding in Morgan’s childhood home wasn’t always the plan, however. This sweet couple finalized their date weeks — maybe even days! — before the pandemic broke out… back when we were all blissfully unaware of how long restrictions would actually be in place. We captured their Lincoln Memorial engagement session last summer when the world started opening back up and even joked about how we were excited to see one another in a year without masks! Well, the last part did ring true, just not quite in the fashion they had originally planned.
Morgan and Fran were set to be married at The Willard InterContinental in Washington, DC. As restrictions slowly began to lift this spring, we saw a backwards shift in DC — one that limited receptions to sitting at a table; that’s right, no standing and definitely no dancing. Faced the the impossible decision of how to proceed, Morgan and Fran knew one thing to be true… they didn’t want to wait any longer to get married.
With only weeks left until the wedding, they did a complete 180 and moved their black-tie ballroom wedding to her family’s Virginia estate… all without the help of a planner! Morgan and her mother, Barbara, took the day into their own hands and I think you’ll agree when you see the photos below that they could easily have a future in wedding design! The day turned out beautifully (I mean truly, a perfect June day that topped out at 75 degrees!) and, most importantly, we got this amazing couple married in front of all their friends and family.
Morgan and Fran, thank you for keeping me as part of your incredible vendor team throughout all the changes! I was overjoyed to watch the two of you tie the knot!
A huge thank you to these vendors for making Morgan & Fran’s wedding amazing! And to Rebekah Emily Photography for being an awesome second shooter!
