If there was ever such thing as an ALP Legacy Couple, Sarah and Kevin would certainly fit the bill perfectly! Earlier this July, we visited Old Town Alexandria to capture their second anniversary along with their sweet pup, Ruby. Prior to their anniversary session, I previously documented their Jefferson Memorial engagement session, their rehearsal dinner celebration, and, of course, their Rixey Manor wedding. I even had the chance to briefly catch up with them in January this year during Kristina and Sean’s Mayflower Hotel wedding because Kevin was in their wedding party! We were also set to do first anniversary photos this time last year, but Mother Nature just continued to have different plans time and time again. But to say it was worth the wait would simply be an understatement!
After last year’s experience, were a little hesitant to move forward with July, but were luckily blessed with the most beautiful morning (there was, of course, a small chance of rain which we all decided to ignore and I’m so glad we did!). Starting on the docks of the Alexandria Waterfront, we even enjoyed a cool breeze for the first half of the session. From there, we stopped by a few of my other favorite sites including the cobblestones of Prince Street, the Carlyle House, and the infamous alleyways to name a few. Having already done a traditional Washington, DC engagement shoot, we planned to avoid the front of the Carlyle and just focus on the gardens… but when Sarah showed up in the perfect dusty blue dress, I just couldn’t resist a few!
And I would be remiss if I didn’t mention adorable Ruby! When we planned to shoot last year, she was a super young pup and Sarah and Kevin were worried how she would do in photos. There was still a bit of apprehension this year, but as you’ll see below, she was an absolute darling! As soon as I found out her magic word (“kitty!”), she couldn’t stop hamming it up for the camera!
Sarah and Kevin, it’s always such a joy to work with the two of you and I hope to continue to document your lives years and years from now!
