Brooklyn and Brandon eloped earlier this summer during an intimate wedding at the National Gallery of Art. These two are transplants from Georgia who met years ago through Brooklyn’s brother. Brandon, a member of the US Army, moved up to DC on recent orders and Brooklyn decided to join him. They found out that in the coming year, he will find himself stationed in Hawaii. Between now and then, he will be out of town frequently for training, so these two were ready to tie the knot when an opening in his schedule occurred! Brooklyn’s amazing threw everything together in less than a week, coordinating both families to be present for their nuptials. Brooklyn’s father prepared the ceremony speech and pulled off his duty as officiant flawlessly.
One of my favorite parts of their wedding day was just seeing how deeply these two love one another. Elopements are one of my favorite things to photograph as there is so much more raw emotion present. I find that my couples aren’t swept up in the grandiosity of the affair and can focus on one another. Brandon and Brooklyn certainly did just that. There wasn’t a dry eye during their vows. Brooklyn couldn’t even write hers down, she simply spoke from the heart and told Brandon she knew exactly what she wanted to say in this moment from the first day they started dating.
As art lovers, I had so much fun exploring the National Gallery of Art alongside these two. We searched out the prettiest art, the best light, and anywhere we could find unique angles. The gallery made for the perfect backdrop for their wedding day portraits and I’m honored to have captured this special wedding at NGA!
