This fall, I had the pleasure of capturing Nadia and Chasen’s Jefferson Memorial engagement session in Washington, DC. I’d love to tell you it was a beautiful autumn day, as it was mid-October and should’ve been perfect, but unfortunately we were greeted with an unseasonably chilly (and windy!) morning. Luckily, this sweet couple rolled with what we had and made the best of it! Despite their balloon not cooperating (and ending up inside the dome of the Jefferson — sorry, NPS!!) and a bit of wind-blown hair, we really didn’t have any issues!
Like so many of the couples I photograph, these two are transplants to the District. They met in Washington while Nadia was finishing up school and Chasen was working for the Coast Guard. When Chasen took a job with the CG in DC, they knew this was their time to explore a new city and coast! They’re excited to introduce their West Coast based parents to their new lives here in Washington, DC.
I told Nadia and Chasen at their session that I almost always end up loving my couple’s “fancy” outfit the most and shoot in it for 3/4 of the session. But these two were THE vibe in their second (and third!) outfit and totally changed my perspective. I felt like they both relaxed after changing and produced some of my favorite images from a session this year. While I’ll always love a flowy dress, nothing beats a couple feeling most like themselves in photos!
Before I take you to the peek, you should know that Nadia is a budding and talented photographer of her own! Check out her work HERE and then keep scrolling for their sunrise engagement session in DC!
