JJ and Jonathan had the most beautiful sunrise for their early morning engagement session at the Lincoln Memorial and Reflecting Pool. The day was slightly overcast, which gave us great light in front of the monument for their photos — when it’s too bright, we usually have to skip this spot! The temperature was also a bit chilly, which was a huge contrast to the 90 degree weather we had just days prior.
April has to be one of the most unpredictable months for weather in the District — one of the many joys of being a Washington, DC wedding photographer! You have days of early summer and then, just as quickly, you can have freezing temperatures! Luckily, the morning warmed up quickly and these two didn’t complain a bit about the slight breeze (or early morning workout I made them complete as we trekked all across the Mall!). And the photos turned out completely stunning which means no matter the weather, the light was just right!
JJ and Jonathan will be married this October in a beautiful fall wedding at the St. Regis in Washington, DC. If you’re not from the area, the St. Regis is just minute away from the White House, making it a quintessential DC wedding! While they met and live in New York, they wanted to come back to a place that Jonathan had called home for years. JJ’s family will be joining them from China — their second visit in the past three years, so it will be a wonderful reunion to say the very least. Following the wedding, they will honeymoon in Japan for their first trip as a married couple! I’m already looking forward to their St. Regis wedding this October and can’t wait for the big day!
