Rich had always planned to propose to Rylee at the US Capitol in Washington, DC. As fate would have it, the District had other plans for them — if you’re from/have lived in Washington, DC, you’re certainly no stranger to our ever-present barricades, protests, parades, events, motorcades, etc. And trust me, I love this city! But it’s not without it’s hurdles. Due to unforeseen circumstances, Rich ended up proposing at one of the other highlights — the Jefferson Memorial. They knew, however, that they still wanted to Capitol and its surrounding area to be part of their engagement and opted to photograph their engagement photos there instead!
Rylee and Rich met working on Capitol Hill. While Rylee is now a consultant and Rich is back at law school, it was obviously a huge part of their love story and the area where they live when in DC. They currently split their time between DC and SC — for the past several years, Rich has been studying in South Carolina, so they alternate weekends seeing one another a few times a month. It’ll be nearly three years of long distance by the time they are finally reunited and can’t wait to find out where it will be. Rylee is also excited to be fully reunited with their sweet doodle, Murph, who lives with Rich in SC and can only visit when he drives back!
These two will be getting married in 2025 in Asheville, NC, near where Rich grew up! Since they still have quite a bit of time to plan, the honeymoon was up in the air but they are leaning towards France which we all know is always a good idea :)
