Blair and Dean had an iconic DC engagement session at many of our city’s most infamous places — the Jefferson Memorial, the Constitution Gardens, and even the Reflecting Pool. Normally it would be impossible to get good photos at each of these locations in one shoot — while individually beautiful, they each are fairly wide open and are best photographed as the sun is first rising. I warned these two about the possibility of not being able to make it work, but told them if we had an overcast morning that we might just be able to pull it off. Well wouldn’t you know… we had the most perfect morning possible! The sun didn’t start to truly shine until mere minutes after we wrapped up, allowing us to stop at each of their dream locations. I loved how open these two were to whatever the morning brought and fully trusting my vision from a photography perspective — it took off all the pressure and made it easy for us to get everything they wanted!

Washington, DC is an important place to these two. They moved here from Colorado, where they had met in college and began their careers. Blair’s job brought them to the District briefly, but they will likely be moving abroad next fall and wanted to capture their time in DC.

It was back in Colorado, however, where they got engaged. Blair was home visiting her family for the holiday season and Dean was back in DC for work. He flew out on NYE to surprise her at The Brown Palace Hotel, a place where they shared so many special dinners and milestones before. After her initial shock of him even being there, Blair gladly said yes! They’ll be returning to CO next summer to tie the knot there amongst their friends and family.
