I was so honored to capture Janine and Dane’s elopement outside of Washington, DC in Chevy Chase, MD. Janine had emailed me a few weeks prior when I was out of the country, so it took me a few days to get back to her and I figured, due to the short turnaround, that they had likely already found someone else. She so sweetly told me they had waited to hear back and I couldn’t have been happier! It was such a joy to work with her over our short time of planning, but the day unfolded beautifully.
I’ve mentioned a few times how much I love intimate weddings like these. I still, of course, love the big celebrations as that is what I primarily shoot, but I do love the quiet moments of an elopement. It allows for the couple to be focused completely on the marriage-to-be without the stress of anything else clouding their day.
Janine and her partner, Dane, got ready in their stunning home — just the two of them alongside their adorable dog, Maddy, and showstopping cat, Taylor. It was such a calm atmosphere as they prepared for their courthouse elopement later that afternoon. I documented the morning as it unfolded and then we headed over to the Chevy Chase Club for a few more formal portraits. Despite it being mid-day, we were blessed with this heavy fog that made for soft light and an ethereal glow in the background of their photos.
Their families were anxiously awaiting photos from the small celebration and I’m certain they were overjoyed for this sweet couple! Enjoy a few images from their intimate — but equally as special — day!
