My heart was racing in the moments leading up to Alex’s proposal in the Georgetown area of Washington, DC. Alex had emailed me nearly a year prior, over the moon to be proposing to his longtime girlfriend, Tori. These two had met all the way back in high school in Wisconsin but started dating about 7 years prior while in college. They dated long distance for a few years, before settling into their careers. Wanting to try something totally new and seeking a bit more diversity, they moved to the District and have been absolutely loving it.
While they currently live a bit closer to Capitol Hill, they love being in the city and exploring on weekends. One of their favorite areas to visit is, of course, Georgetown. While strolling the streets, Tori always stops to take photos of the blue house — the prettiest one in an full of nothing but beautiful homes. Alex took note of this and was sure to go back and get the exact address as the perfect spot for his proposal.
The plan was set — Tori and Alex’s friends would be in town, so they planned to get breakfast with them in the morning in Georgetown. The two of them parked and started walking to the restaurant, where they happened to walk past Tori’s favorite blue house. She started taking a few photos as the fall foliage was in peak bloom — and when she turned back around, Alex was on his knee to propose. It was a true surprise. Tori had absolutely NO idea it was coming which showed through the joy and tears these two experienced on this wonderful morning.
It’s always such an honor to capture the milestones in my couple’s lives, but none more so than being part of a proposal! Enjoy a peek into this moment, with a few engagement photos to follow!
