I was so excited to capture Chloe & David’s engagement session at the Anderson House in Washington, DC. I had previously photographed a surprise proposal and several Anderson House weddings, so I was no stranger to the beauty of this stunning venue. Chloe & David were on the search for a venue that felt regal and elegant, so when they saw my shared posts from this stunning beauty, they knew it was a perfect fit. It’s one of those rare venues where the inside is just as gorgeous as the outside — as a Washington, DC wedding photographer, we are spoiled with no shortage of these — but the Anderson House is definitely at the top of my list.

I talk about weather a lot in my engagement session posts, but it’s often such a big factor to a successful shoot. While DC has no shortage of covered locations, clients often want the epic wide shots as well! And trust me, as someone who has outdoor photos taken with her only family, I totally get it!

Chloe and David noticed impending storms in the days leading up to their shoot. I provided them with several options, but advised them to wait until the day of the shoot to make a decision. Even with all of our advances in technology, the weather is still one of the most unpredictable aspects in our everyday lives. Rain changes up to the hour, so it’s always best when a client has the flexibility to wait as close as possible. Luckily, Chloe and David were totally open and decided on the day of their shoot that the best option would be to bump up our start time by a few hours. This turned out to the right choice, as we only experienced a few mere sprinkles throughout the shoot! And thankfully, as I mentioned above, the Anderson House has a plethora of indoor locations to shoot in as well!
