Kathleen and Tyler were married at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington, DC this winter. It was a January wedding, so everyone expected the cold and we were prepared for a blustery day! While it did actually flurry that morning, we had an overcast, chilly day with a bit of cold wind. Despite all of this, Kathleen, in her gorgeous, strapless wedding gown, never once complained.
Thankfully, the rectangular nature of the Lincoln Memorial shielded us from the wind as we hid on one side of the monument. Kathleen and Tyler’s fantastic groomsmen kept our spot clear so we could shoot as fast as possible while still getting beautiful photos! I ended up grabbing nearly the same amount of shot I get during a full engagement session in less than 30 minutes with these two! That’s a testament to how much they are in love and how naturally they photograph. As things went so well at the Lincoln, we tried to be brave and stop at the DC War Memorial for round 2 — but there was no wind blocker there so we headed back to the Mayflower to cozy up inside.
Both ceremony and reception were at the hotel, making the evening easy for guests to relax and enjoy the joyous affair! The dancing had only just kicked off as I wrapped up for the night, but I could tell this one was going to be a party until the very end!
