Washington National Cathedral Anniversary Portraits

Picking a favorite client is like picking a favorite kid — it varies by the day but, in the end, you really adore all of the equally. After a decade of capturing weddings, it’s usually pretty clear to me from the initial emails between myself and client whether or not we will work well with one another — with Carling and Dakota, it was evident immediately. See, these two have the unique advantage of also being extremely talented wedding photographers in the DMV (you can view their site here!) — so they “spoke” my language when it came to planning and all things photography-related!

I’ve been looking forward to their vow renewal for almost a year. See, these two eloped in Cozumel in 2018 after dating for almost four years. Carling and Dakota never had the opportunity to have a real wedding, focusing on the birth of their first baby and purchasing a new home instead. After completing their family with their second daughter and being settled into their lives, they decided they wanted to have an intimate celebration where they could finally have the big day they deserve. In just a few short weeks, we’ll be celebrating these two at the Meridian House in Washington, DC and I could not be more excited for the occasion!

But before the big day, we knew it was important to get these two comfortable in front of my camera. While they have, of course, been photographed before on several momentous occasions, every photographer has a different style which makes it nice to have a warm up before the big day. Carling showed up in a stunning Zimmermann gown, complete with gorgeous hair and makeup and both of their radiant smiles, and I knew it was going to be a great morning! I’m so happy that May is just around the corner so I can be reunited with this sweet duo and their families!
