I’m pretty sure this is my favorite post of the entire year! Don’t get me wrong, I love nothing more than sharing the stories of my amazing couples and their big day, but there is something so fun about going behind the scenes to show a day in the life of a Washington, DC wedding photographer. In one of my recent client reviews, a bride told me I made her feel like family and I found that to be the highest compliment; when I arrive in the bridal suite, I never want it to feel like a stranger is in the room and that we’ve built a bond over a year of planning for this moment. Because trust me, as you’ll see below, we get very close in a hurry! Without further adieu, some of my favorite moments of 2016!
Brides and grooms, don’t worry about those little details, I have you covered!
Because, trust me, details are one of my favorite parts of the day…
… Even when we can’t find said detail (don’t worry, we found it eventually!)
Welp, clearly I have a shooting method!!
Okay, well, except not here!
I think these are my favorite of the whole bunch — random reception shots that turn into a Where’s Waldo!
I promise, that’s my pointer finger!!!
Apparently I have a bad habit of setting my camera on the ground – whoops!
You’d think I’d be more comfortable in front of the camera, but nope… still awkward! Also this was like 5AM in Central Park!
Wrangling up some groups is just part of the job!
Rob and Alicia, the client’s dog whisperers!
“Entourage” walking shots are my favorite!
Bride photobomb!
See? Family :)
Something new we started in 2016! I can’t share the details because I don’t want to ruin it for future brides and grooms, but the reason I do it is for the next set of pictures…. …the hug!
And finally, just *some* of the amazing people who make this all possible. I am so grateful for each and every one of my 2016 couples, including the 13 not pictured (whoops – I didn’t do so well with that this year!) and am so glad to have been part of your day!
I can’t end this without thanking all of my second shooters from 2016! They are the ones who took these images so I have memories with my clients — you are the best! Thank you for treating these wonderful brides and grooms as if they were your own.
