Virginia Vineyard Engagement Session at Stone Tower Winery

After getting engaged earlier this summer, Alyssa & Jeff reached out to me about documenting their engagement photos at Stone Tower Winery, in Leesburg, VA. The two of them were looking for a Virginia location with a stunning view and a bit of color this time of year. Luckily for me, they landed upon my images from this beautiful venue on Pinterest! I was so honored when they reached out and found we would be able to work with one another!

As planning for the session unfolded, I had such a blast e-mailing with Alyssa about potential outfits for the shoot. Assistance with outfit planning is a service I offer to all my clients. I absolutely love when they take me up on it; it allows me to offer suggestions based on my experience photographing so many different looks over the past decade.

Alyssa expressed that they wanted two very distinct looks. The first would be something a bit fancier than normal. And the second, would be more similar to their day-to-day wear… something that just felt like “them”. For the casual outfit, they opted for denim with all the fall attire — booties, sweaters, and even a pop of flannel. I love the cream sweater Alyssa selected, as it was completely backless which added a hint of sophistication to the overall look.

Planning the fancy outfit is where we got stuck. Alyssa pulled together a variety of dresses that were all lovely, but none that were “the one”. So many of the pretty dresses she found online just didn’t hang the same on arrival. We left things up in the air, but the day of the shoot, she arrived with a stunning, white Reformation dress that was absolute perfection. Paired with Jeff’s white shirt and khaki chinos, the soft colors made them stand out against the rich greens and yellows of Stone Tower Winery’s fall foliage.

The two of them will be getting married next summer in the Outer Banks and I’m already looking forward to seeing what beautiful ensembles they pull together for the big day!
