The Virginia House in Richmond, VA is the perfect location for an enchanted engagement session. It’s just two hours outside of Washington, DC, in the capital of the state, but unlike anything you can find inside the District. The historic home was formerly an English manor hosue that came to the area almost 100 years ago in 1925. In order to preserve the stunning property, it has since been taken over by the Virginia Historical Society. The home is open for tours, but also private events like engagement photos!
Ryan and Lilliana selected this venue after searching endlessly for the perfect location for their portrait session. Having relocated to the area, they knew they wanted to do something local for their engagement session but couldn’t find just the right thing until they came across the VA House. Lilliana loved the gorgeous architecture paired with the hedged English gardens and knew it would serve as the iconic backdrop she had been searching for!
The day of their session called for heavy rains — and not one of those rains where it is a will it/won’t it type situation — it was pretty much guaranteed to rain and it did! Luckily the team at the VA House was so accommodating and allowed us to move to the following evening where we had the most perfect weather for their photos. They even had an epic sunset which cast a lovely warm glow across the entire property. Lilliana selected a romantic white gown for their session which paired perfectly with the historic charm of the venue.
Trust me when I say this is easily going to be a new favorite if you’ve never had a chance to visit ! Keep scrolling to get a look at this sweet couple and their beautiful engagement session at the VA House in Richmond, VA!
