Samantha and Matt were married in an intimate micro wedding amongst their closest friends and family at St. Dominic Church in Washington, DC. This is one of the prettiest churches in the District; it’s stunning blue ceiling makes for gorgeous photos and I love the way the light falls in through the stained glass windows.
Following the full mass and family portraits at the church, we hopped on the shuttle and headed to the monuments for some additional pictures. We arrived to a fairly crowded Lincoln Memorial; it was President’s Day weekend and people seemed to be enjoying the sites. We even saw another bride and groom coming as we were leaving! Despite the National Mall being full of people, we were still able to get some gorgeous shots without folks in the background as I had some fantastic helpers on either end of our “hall” :)
This sweet couple was married mid-February — which is usually a chilly time of year for a Washington, DC wedding photographer. So much so that Samantha and I even discussed the scenario of what would happen if it snowed during our initial call! Thankfully we didn’t have to worry about that. This entire winter has been unseasonably warm (already predicting VERY early Cherry Blossoms this year!) and it ended up being a gorgeous afternoon full of bright, warm sunshine. We were able to take our time and enjoy being outside for portraits, rather than feeling rushed. Their couples portraits at the Lincoln Memorial turned out stunning!
I’m so grateful to Samantha and Matt’s wonderful friends and family who helped make this day absolutely perfect for this lovely pair. Thank you for allowing me to join and document the celebration; it was a joyous day!
