One of my favorite things about being a Washington, DC engagement photographer is that I have the opportunity to connect with couples that I simply would never meet otherwise. Despite being an introvert (most of my couples would be shocked to hear that as I’m definitely an extroverted-introvert on their wedding days!), I love getting to talk and hear all about their loves throughout our time with one another. That was certainly the case with Christina and Greg. These two opted for a sunrise engagement session at the Jefferson Memorial. It was the tail end of the Cherry Blossom season, so we even snuck down to the Tidal Basin at the end of their portraits to grab a few amongst the remaining trees. Seeing as the NPS will be removing over 300 (but replanting later!), it may be the end of Cherry Blossoms as we know it — so it was extra special to grab these photos for this sweet couple.
But it was even more special to hear about their journey and even more about their planning for the big day. Christina always wanted to do a destination wedding and had looked — literally — all over the world! She joked that you could probably name a venue and she would be able to tell you all the specs about having a wedding there! After hearing destination wedding horror stories from some of their friends (fake venues, shady vendors, missing money, and so much more!) she was sure to do her due diligence when making a selection. Ultimately, the ended up selecting a castle in Scotland! As you’ll see in the photos below, between Christina and Greg’s natural style and effortless posing, I know those photos are simply going to be a dream! Enjoy a peek into their Jefferson Memorial engagement photos and make sure you scroll all the way through to catch a peek of those iconic Cherry Blossoms!
