The thing about having a Washington, DC wedding during spring is that you never really know what the weather will bring. This could not have been more true for Lauren and Teddy’s wedding day. All week long, the forecast was back and forth between sun and clouds and rain. As I’ve written about on countless occasions… there really isn’t much stock you should put into the forecast! It’s really pretty unreliable until the day of your wedding, and even then the hourly can change by the minute. The best approach? Be ready for whatever the day brings and just enjoy it!

That’s exactly the approach Lauren and Teddy took. The day of their wedding was a beautiful spring cool, but the sky was filled with heavy, dark clouds. When I arrived to Lauren’s bridal suite at the Mayflower Hotel, no drops had yet to fall. But within the hour, the sky seemed to open up and dumped showers for the rest of the day. Despite the rain, I never saw Lauren once get disappointed. She trusted her team to execute and we certainly did! We had to quickly pivot to an Uber for the transporation to St. Matthews, an easy solution to keeping her out of the rain on the planned walk. And for portraits, we had selected a covered location at Union Station so we were already set on how to execute those flawlessly without any stress. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good garden or park — but we are so lucky to have stunning covered portrait options in DC and I highly recommend including those in your wedding day plans just in case!

The rest of the evening was spent in the Ballroom of the Mayflower Hotel, where Lauren and Teddy’s closest friends and family toasted their love and let it rip on the dance floor!
