Jaylee and Caelan will be married in Hawaii amongst their closest friends and family later this year. That marriage celebration will be followed by a HUGE wedding reception in Utah, where they are both from originally, and is sure to be an amazing time with a party that size! But for their engagement session, they knew they wanted to do something a little bit closer to their new home in Washington, DC. See, while Jaylee and Caelan are both from Utah as I mentioned above, they actually didn’t meet one another until they lived in the District! Jaylee moved here first and a mutual friend from church introduced the two of them shortly after Caelan came to town. As they tell it, there was a church trip planned where they could have meet even weeks before, but their timing ended up being perfect regardless.
Like I write about so often, the weather the morning of Jaylee and Caelan’s Reflecting Pool engagement session in DC was completely unpredictable. We had tracked it the evening before, only to see chances getting lower and lower so we decided to go for it. In the end, all of us were so grateful that we did — the morning light turned out to be extra special for their initial portraits at the Reflecting Pool which is the location they were most looking forward to for the shoot. It did begin to drizzle off and on throughout the rest of the morning, but we simply sought shelter in the DC War Memorial and worked around it. I’m thrilled with how this session turned out — the construction at the Lincoln has had me missing the Reflecting Pool, so this was a perfect way to return! Enjoy a peek below!
