I loved capturing Chris and Kate’s sunrise engagement session at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, DC this October. It was the perfect fall morning in the District of Columbia, with just a hint of seasonal crispness in the air while we photographed under the slowly rising sun.The gorgeous morning light turned out absolutely perfect in their photographs as you’ll see below!

This sweet pair is one of those rare couples that can say they first met and started dating in high school. Having met so many years ago, they’ve experienced much of their adult lives with one another… but that doesn’t mean they haven’t had their fair share of challenges! After graduating, they decided to both attend college in the South. However, he ended up in Alabama and she in Mississippi, so about 5 hours apart. Being no stranger to distance, they now live in different states for their respective jobs and for these two? It works! They both love where they’re at and what they’re doing and have decided they will figure out the rest when it comes time.

Last holiday season, Kate and Chris traveled to California for a quick getaway to the Pacific Coast Highway. They began their trip in San Francisco, and finished it after a week of exploring with a proposal in Big Sur on New Year’s! They are set to be married this January, almost exactly a year later, at the First Baptist Church in Alexandria, VA. Their reception will follow at Belle Haven Country Club. Having grown up just down the road, these are special places in their lives and they are excited to return to the DMV for the big day!
