Last summer, I did a test on how the quality of prints in terms of paper and color varies when ordered from different consumer labs (you can view the winner here!). It was amazing — and slightly scary! — to see the contrasting results. As I discussed in the post, the majority of my time as a Washington, DC wedding photographer isn’t behind the camera — it’s behind the computer! I spent hours ensuring your images are color corrected on a calibrated monitor and retouched for the perfect brightness. After performing the test and seeing the huge difference in results, it was frustrating knowing all that hard work can fly out the window depending which lab you order from. So when Pixieset, my gallery delivery method, starting offering professional quality prints ordered directly through the gallery, I couldn’t tell my clients fast enough! Professional labs offer a sure fire way to see your images the way your photographer intended you to see them. Pixieset truly couldn’t make the process any easier to cover your house in your gorgeous images — let me show you exactly how below!
So, let’s start at the beginning! When you navigate to the gallery link, you will be greeted with a home page. Simply click the open button and it will drop you down into the main gallery.
From there continue scrolling through the gallery until you find the image(s) you would like to order. When you’re ready to add an image to your cart, you can do one of two things. First, you can simply hover your mouse over the image and three icons will appear: a heart, a shopping cart, and an arrow. For order purposes, you will want to select the cart icon. Alternatively, if you click the image you wish you purchase, it will bring you to a screen like the one below. Simply click “Buy Photo” in the top right. An ordering screen will pop up with the different print options; as you can see below, there are various sizes of prints and even canvases that can be ordered through a Pixieset gallery! They even include a product description to the lefthand size about the types of paper used for each product.Select your sizes and quantity and add them to your cart. From here you can continue shopping if you would like to order more items or view your cart. When you’re ready to check out, view your shopping cart. You will notice an “edit crop” button below each print. All images are pre-sized for 4×6, so you don’t need to worry about those. Any images that are sized larger, say 5×7, 8×10, etc, will be automatically cropped. You are able to adjust this auto crop to your liking; however, I also personally check each order after it is submitted and will adjust fix the crop before sending it to the lab for printing if you haven’t done so!Finally, once you hit checkout, you will be taken to a traditional ordering screen where you’ll just need to fill out your billing and shipping information along with your payment method. The turn around time at the lab is fantastic and most prints are shipped within 1-2 business days and received 5-10 days later.
