Klaas and Amanda’s black tie DAR Constitution Hall wedding was one of my favorites of the entire 2015 season. It was my second time photographing a wedding a Daughters of the American Revolution’s O’Byrne Gallery and my third with a ceremony at St. Matthews Cathedral. These two venues have quickly become iconic DC wedding venues in my eyes; they are both right in the heart of the city, only blocks away from the White House and feature some of the typical white stone, grand architecture that we are used to seeing on our classic monuments. Amanda also got ready at the Hay Adams Hotel which, if you’ve ever been, know that it has some of the most amazing views! Amanda and Klaas were the perfect couple for this type of classic DC wedding, as they both work and live in the city with their adorable pup Riley. Their family, however, came from all around the world — including many from Belgium — just to support these two as they celebrated their nuptials.  

I was beyond ecstatic when United With Love wanted to feature their wedding day — it was the perfect fit for their local black tie wedding! Amanda told me after hearing the good news that she actually took a lot of inspiration from UWL during the planning process, so it made it even more special to know her wedding was going to be inspiring brides just like her. It’s a pretty amazing feeling to see your hard work come back full circle —  you never get to redo your wedding day, but seeing it featured is the perfect way to feel like you at least get to relive it!
