I am so excited to share this feature with you! One of my absolute all-time favorite engagement sessions, over the six plus years that I’ve been photographing couples, has to be Nadia and Juan’s portraits at The National Cathedral in Washington, DC. First, this is, hands down, one of the most stunning venues in all of the District. The building looks like it was transplanted here straight out of Europe and boasts beautiful archways and sweeping views. It also is home to the Bishop’s Garden which is our own little slice of paradise, right here in DC. And it didn’t hurt that Nadia and Juan are not only ridiculously good looking and well-dressed, but they also are madly in love. So much so, that I had a hard time ending our session because I just wanted to keep shooting!
One of the best parts of their session was the contrast in their first and second outfits — for the first outfit, Nadia chose a classic, white cocktail dress for a more formal approach. Then she changed into a soft, sage midi-dress with a lot of movement. Both look perfect against the natural colored stone of the Cathedral and played well with the variety in backgrounds between the gardens and the architecture. To top it off, we finished their session with a bit of (pink!) champagne to celebrate this wonderful new milestone in their lives!
Needless to say, I was more than excited to share this one with one of my favorite editors, Tabitha, over at United With Love. She runs a DC-based blog, so I knew it would be a good fit to inspire her readers looking for outfit or location ideas for their upcoming engagement session! Please head over to United with Love to view all of Nadia and Juan’s Washington National Cathedral engagement session feature!
