Social media being such a large presence in our lives today, I think everyone knows what I mean when I say you can “know” someone without actually knowing them! That was the case with Michelle; she and my sister-in-law, Mary, were sorority sisters at Longwood University and she always stood out in to me pictures due to her uncanny resemblance to Mary. Fast forward to now, I was so excited to get an e-mail from Michelle about her 2016 wedding — her date was up in the air during our first contact, but our dates aligned and I was honored to be the one who gets to photograph her day! Being a Washington, DC wedding photographer allows me to connect or reconnect with so many individuals which is a pretty humbling experience knowing they picked me to be the one to capture this special day.
I hadn’t met Tommy before our engagement session but I could tell these two were a perfect fit from the start. Through the majority of college, they managed their relationship long distance while he was at Virginia Tech and she finished up at Longwood. I truly think the hardest test to any relationship is surviving it long distance and Michelle and Tommy were able to do that while at college which says quite a lot about how hard they worked for their love story. It was at the Georgetown waterfront where Tommy proposed, trying to hide an entire ring box in his pocket to keep it a surprise for Michelle — obviously he pulled it off and placed the most gorgeous circular halo diamond on her finger! Gentleman, take note of this stunner below!
Michelle and Tommy, I am beyond excited to celebrate your big day next year at the beautiful Congressional Country Club in Maryland — I can’t wait to plan with you over the coming year!
