Just a few weeks ago, Landon and I had some of our stunning photos by Laura Gordon Photography featured on The Fount Collective (you can see that full feature HERE if you’re interested!). As part of the feature, they asked me to write up the inspiration behind these images. In doing so, I included one of my all-time favorite quotes: “Time was a funny and fickle thing. Sometimes there was never enough of it, and other times it stretched out endlessly.”
Those eloquent words have never seemed truer than when I sat back to reflect on these past 6 months with our amazing son. Despite being intentional about every minute with our sweet boy, time still seems to be slipping through my fingers. As a Washington, DC photographer, I obviously believe that pictures are the best way to make time stand still, even if only for a moment. So that is why I continuously capture these beautiful, fleeting memories — as a way to always be able to look back — our son is growing right before our eyes and while I don’t wish to slow it down, I never want to forget. Here’s a look at months 4 through 6; they have been quite the adventure!
MONTH 4
As I mentioned above, at the end of 3 months, Landon and I got some photos together with our favorite photographer, Laura Gordon — these didn’t make it in his 3-6 month post, so I had to share some here because I love them so much! This month was such a blast and was when Landon’s personality really started to appear! It was also a month with lots of “firsts” — we started solid foods & the sippy cup, went to swim classes, tried the baby bouncer, met the Easter Bunny, and “found” our toes! His favorite foods are anything orange… carrots, squash, and sweet potato!
MONTH 5
This month Landon had not one, but TWO visits to the White House — we kept telling him he is so lucky because some people don’t get to do that in their whole lives, let alone one both. We visited for both the Egg Roll and the Garden Tour. We had a late winter snow (crazy!) and, of course, played in the snow for a bit. The joy of eating continued and we tried one new food every 3 or so days! He also figured out that those toes he discovered in month 4 could also fit in his mouth — yum! And he started rolling from back to belly! Bathtime is still his favorite time of day and he can spend up to 30 minutes in there without fussing.
MONTH 6
Every month with this babe is just more and more fun! This month Landon started sitting on his own which totally opened up a new world during play time. The weather has (finally!) started to warm up in DC as well, so enjoyed lots of time outside and weekly ice cream dates… none for Landon, of course! He started playing with chunkier solid foods, including banana, avocado, eggs, and puffs and we moved him to his high chair. We also got rid of the baby car seat and installed a “big boy” one! I got to celebrate my first mother’s day at home with him, Rob, and Granger, in bed, with homemade cinnamon rolls :) He discovered his tongue and constantly sticks it out and blows raspberries.
