Kristina and Alden first met during the freshman year of college like so many couples do these days, but their story is unique in that it doesn’t end where it started. They lived on the same floor and become close friends, even dating briefly during their sophomore year. Things unfortunately didn’t work out at the time and their lives ended up taking them in different directions. Nearly five years later, they rekindled their friendship and started dating long distance from DC to Chicago. After three years, Kristina finally had the chance to move to DC for graduate school and finally be with Alden, so they’ve been together every since! 

These two have a super sweet tradition of celebrating the holidays with just one another before they participate in the big family events; it’s a chance for them to enjoy the quiet romance of the season. This year they went out to dinner and reminisced about all the weddings they attended over the past few months. After talking about what their wedding day could possibly look like, they ended up on Pinterest and started browsing rings. Little did Kristina know, Alden had purchased a ring just days before! By total chance, they ended up on the website he had ordered it from and she landed on the EXACT ring he bought and said, “this, this is exactly the kind of ring I would want!”. As the conversation continued, she joked that she could plan a wedding in 6 months or less. It wasn’t until they got home that Alden couldn’t contain himself any longer — he popped the question right then and there and let her know that her dream ring was already on the way! 

It’s this exact type of thought and care that makes these two such a kind couple — they even brought ME the most delicious macarons during their engagement session! I can’t wait to see what sort of special traditions their wedding day will bring, so I’m greatly looking forward to celebrating with them this November at District Winery in Washington, DC!
