From our initial meeting, it was hard not to love Maggie and Andy. Both have infectiously charming personalities and we shared a love for three of my favorites things — dogs, travel, and hiking! We’ve visited so many of the same destinations over the years and our bucket lists are eerily similar. But that’s enough about the three of us… I’m not trying to be that crazy guest vendor who thinks she’s part of the family already ;)
Maggie and Andy met one another while studying Journalism at Washington and Lee down in Lexington, VA. Their friendship blossomed first, and when they randomly moved into houses next door to one another, their relationship grew into much more. After graduation, life took them all over the country until they finally landed in Washington, DC, together, where they now live just around the corner from both Maggie’s family and Andy’s sister.
This past May, they took a trip out west to hike the Grand Canyon as one of their most recent adventures. They decided to spend a few days enjoying some much needed R&R in Phoenix before undertaking an impressive rim-to-rim tour of the iconic Canyon. The last evening before their hike began, Andy asked Maggie to marry him beneath one of the most beautiful sunsets — talk about an adrenaline boost before a 4-day hike! It certainly came as no surprise that their proposal story included both hiking and travel, another reason why I just adore these two!
We spent the morning of their engagement session exploring all of the stunning monuments the District has to offer! And while the rain clouds may have rolled in halfway through our shoot, they waited until literally moments after we wrapped up before breaking on us! Now we’re looking forward to next December, where they will be married at the Cosmos Club in Washington, DC with the entire day led by one of my favorites, Stephanie, of SRS Events!
