Boudoir is one of those things that I just love to photograph because it gives me the opportunity to photograph something outside of the norm — trust me, I still love photographing couples and weddings first and foremost, but it’s always nice to explore something different to keep your creative juices flowing! I don’t necessarily advertise that I offer boudoir sessions, but always photograph them a few times throughout the year for my lovely brides. 

When Lauren first approached me about her session, I was super excited after she shared her vision for the shoot. She was inspired by several fine art blogs to achieve a soft, romantic look complete with hardwood floors and a candlelit atmosphere. We brainstormed about the perfect location nearby for such a shoot and landed on Oatlands Plantation in Leesburg, VA.  

Lauren’s unique eye brought a plethora of details to the session and each one was more beautiful than the last. The shoot featured an array of vintage candlesticks which helped light the private space on this stunning property. She had commissioned mini Degas paintings from Italy as a nod to her ballet-inspired wedding theme. And finally, Lauren embodied the essence of feminity by wearing three different, yet complementary looks that included a vintage two-piece set by Claire Pettibone, a dreamy lace robe, and a flowing floral wrap. Her entire look was pulled together with hair and makeup by Modern Bridal Studio in Northern VA. It was such a dream to get creative with this sweet girl and I had a blast breaking out of the traditional mould and exploring fine art film boudoir portraits with Lauren!
