I have to start this post off saying that Lauren and James are truly troopers — our session at the Henry Hill House in Manassas Battlefield Park, VA, took place on one of the coldest days in November; so much so that the ground was covered in frost! And the frost didn’t clear up when the sun started to rise, it lingered throughout our entire session! These two not only stuck it out, but got some incredible portraits as well! It was definitely an extra cuddly session, but spoke right to my heart.
I kept these two talking to keep their mind off the cold and loved hearing about how James proposed to Lauren earlier this summer during a trip to Las Vegas. I feel like a proposal story is usually what begins to define a couple once they get engaged, but for me, I always love hearing about how a couple met — and for Lauren and James, it was clearly one of those “meant to be” moments, except over a several year span! These two actually attended the same high school; Lauren was a freshman when James was a senior. Despite her being a cheerleader and James being a football player, they knew each others names but never met. Several years later, during a night out, James remembers holding Lauren’s purse one night while she and her friends ran to the bathroom — she was unfortunately taken at the time, but I love that that memory sticks out in his mind! Fast forward to post-college when one weekend night, these two are finally introduced; not only that, but they are finally both single! I think you know how this story ends, but I love how the long beginning leads to such an incredible love story.
Lauren and James, you are going to have an amazing wedding next September at the Historic Rosemont Manor in Winchester. I wish you both nothing but the best as you continue to prepare for the big day and thank you for having me as a small part of the planning!
