A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to meet up with a dear friend, Ashley, and her husband at the Goodstone Inn in Middleburg, VA to photograph their fine art maternity session on film. Ashley, like myself, is a Washington, DC wedding photographer, and it felt like I knew her for a long time before we ever even met in person. I could tell that we would we would have a ton in common by our various posts and shooting style, so when we finally met this past spring, my theory was confirmed; you can tell a lot about a person by their social media presence and Ashley is the epitome of kindness and grace.
I was ecstatic when she reached out to me about shooting her maternity session at the end of July; she was due in a just a few short weeks and realized this was a moment that she wanted to remember forever before welcoming her son into the world. And we were lucky with our timing — Brooks arrived 11 days before his due date, just days after our session! He is seriously as cute as can be and already has a full head of hair. I can’t wait to meet the little guy, but first you get to enjoy some of this gorgeous session shot before his birth! Ashley and Michael, thank you for allowing me to capture this wonderful time in your lives; you two are going to be amazing parents to that lucky little guy!
Thank you to the Goodstone Inn for allowing us to capture these images on your beautiful property! Future brides — if you’re looking for a beautiful location in Northern VA that is a bit off the beaten path, a Goodstone Inn wedding would be to die for! It’s just shortly outside Washington, DC and close to tons of great wineries for your guests to enjoy!
This session was photographed on a Pentax 645N camera with Fuji 400H film. The film was scanned and developed by Richard Photo Lab.
