Emily and Derek were married on a perfect October day at The Tidewater Inn in Easton, MD. We had been experiencing an unseasonably cold fall in the Washington, DC region, so it was such a blessing to see the sun shining that morning.
These two met in 2014 at their accounting firm, Aronson. And let me tell you what happens when you have two accountants getting married — the puns accrue faster than you can say spreadsheets ;) And while I’m not one to audit someone else’s approach, the speeches were full of so many accounting jokes that I felt like I was with Ben Wyatt from Parks & Rec. Once the liquid assets started flowing (I’ll be here all day), the party got started and nearly everyone in attendance was on the dance floor! It was such a fun day to be part of and, despite the busy timeline, it never once felt taxing.
All jokes aside, Emily and Derek do have something special in their relationship that is hard to put into words. I loved listening to their personal vows and hearing about how their relationship bonded over the series, Lost (Rob and I actually share a connection with this — something that I talked about on my original website all the way back in 2013!). They rewatch their favorite episode annually on Valentine’s Day, a tradition that I want to implement in my own life. And Emily has converted to a lifelong Caps fan, something near and dear to Derek’s heart (to say the least!).
These two clearly found a relationship worth the investment (okay last one, I swear!) and I’m wishing them a lifetime as one another’s “Constant”!
I just had to do a GIF of the “champagne pop heard around the world” ;)
