The Mill at Fine Creek in Powhatan, VA is one of those spots that was on my “to-shoot” wedding bucket list. It’s a completely unique venue that features old mill ruins surrounded by greenery and gardens and is just a short walk from a granite creek. There is nothing else like it nearby; I’d seen pictures of it on other photographer’s blogs and was so excited to finally have my chance to shoot there. But! That wasn’t the only reason I was excited; I was also going to celebrate one of my favorite couples!
Sam & Matt were one of the first couples I booked for the 2015 wedding season, so I always felt like I had a special connection with the two of them. Plus, like Rob and I, they met and fell in love at James Madison University so we had that JMU bond as well :) I’ve been anxiously awaiting their wedding day for over a year and it turned out even better than I could have imagined — perfect weather, kind families, a fun bridal party, and an amazing venue. These two had six incredible parents and an unlimited number of friends surrounding them with an outpouring of love. It was bittersweet when it ended (there may or may not have been some tears shed…), but I’m so grateful to have been part of their day; there is truly no where else I would have rather been!
A huge thank you to these vendors for making Sam & Matt’s wedding amazing! And to Katie of KSant Photography for being an awesome second shooter!
