Madalyn and Kelton tied the knot alongside their local district friends this October at the DC War Memorial in Washington, DC. Across the entire DMV region, elopements are the latest trend and and I have to say, I love the environment that they create! They allow me to spend a few intimate hours with my couple and meet just their closet friends and family members. While I’ll always love photographing the large celebrations, I certainly hope elopements stick around long after COVID is gone! They seem to create the perfect pairing!

This sweet couple hadn’t always planned to say “I do” in such a small fashion; originally, they were planning to head to Colorado to wed amongst the beautiful Rocky Mountains. However, as the story goes in 2020, the spread of the virus and limitations with travel changed their plans dramatically. They are still planning to move forward with their big wedding next year, but wanted to officially become man and wife in the meantime. With both of their families back home in Missouri, they enlisted five of their friends who live in DC to join them for their intimate elopement.

October is one of the most beautiful months in Washington, DC and Madalyn and Kelton’s wedding day was certainly no exception! The early forecast called for a bit of rain, but we were met with nothing but sunshine and blue skies! There was a light breeze blowing the early fall leaves, but luckily their friends came prepared with brooms to sweep up the monument before the nuptials began. After their short, but personal ceremony, they shared cupcakes and signed the paperwork to make everything official! We then grabbed a few photos with their friends before heading off to the Lincoln for even more portraits. It was truly a perfect day documenting their love story!
