Khaki and Nick had one of my favorite Lincoln Memorial engagement sessions in recent history — and that’s saying something as I’m working there several times a month! We were greeted with the most amazing morning light! I always have my couples meet me a few minutes before sunrise for their shoot, as once the sun comes up, it gets bright quickly! This limits the shots we can get in front of the Lincoln (but makes for beautiful photos with the Reflecting Pool and Washington Monument). I’m not exaggerating when I say the sky was on FIRE the morning of their shoot. It possibly the prettiest sunrise colors I have ever seen at this location… and you better believe we captured those until it was gone. The sun then gently hid behind clouds, allowing us to get shot after shot in front of the monument in all the places that are usually too bright (or too crowded, if not at sunrise!).
My next favorite part will be easy to spot as soon as you take a peek at the photos — Khaki and Nick had AMAZING style! We bonded over our love/hate relationship with statement pieces and shopping for vacation :) She’s an absolute fashionista through and through and I love the way both of her dresses paired perfectly with the monuments.
And last, and certainly most important, was the love that Khaki & Nick have for one another. They are such kind, caring individuals — which is likely why they were set up with one another! Ironically, they both attended The College of William and Mary at the same exact time, but never ended up crossing paths until they moved to Washington, DC. It was on a trip back to their alma matter that Nick proposed… with both of their families secretly lying it wait to join them for a celebration following the proposal!
It was such a joy to document Khaki & Nick’s engagement session in Washington, DC!
