Welcome to my blog, where I share highlights of everything from my client's wedding days and portrait sessions, to recent features and our adventures around the world.

Hi, I'm Alicia.

Signature Wedding Drink

Mar 16, 2017

As I’ve mentioned, oh, once or twice, a wedding is all about the details as it’s the best ways to personalize your day. Being a Washington, DC wedding photographer, I’ve been lucky to “see it all”, allowing me to know which details can be skipped and which make a huge impact. One thing that guests seem to love time and time again is a signature drink.

Selecting a signature drink can be as easy as going with your favorite beverage or finding one that complements your wedding colors and/ theme.  It’s also a good idea to take the season into consideration as mulled cider is best enjoyed in fall or a mint julep for summer! One super-fun (and super-delicious!) idea is to have both you and your significant other select a drink for your guests to enjoy. Have the bartenders keep a tally so that you can see who’s drink was more popular at the end of the night!

Another idea is to create one drink available only for cocktail hour and another for the reception. It will keep guests guessing at what other surprises will be popping up all night and make each drink feel more exclusive.

Of course, no matter how you decide to present your drink(s), bonus points are always given if it can be served as a mocktail so any guests who are driving home that evening can still partake in the nonalcoholic option.

I can’t finish this post with a little bit of inspiration in the form of my favorite cocktail! We didn’t have a signature drink at our wedding as only beer and wine was permitted, but if we had, it certainly would have been a Kir Royle. It’s a delicious concoction that is super easy to whip up!

Kir Royale
Recipe by: Lulus

Ingredients
1 oz. Creme de Cassis
6 oz. French Champagne
Blackberries

Directions
Mix together the Creme de Cassis and French Champagne. Pour both the liquid into your favorite champagne flute and top with blackberries for a garnish. This recipe is perfect for two to enjoy!
