I am so excited to be sharing photos from Kaylie & Jake’s Old Town Alexandria engagement session! Kaylie is the sister of one of my former brides, Krissey, who you may remember from her Thomas Birkby House wedding last September — if not, revisit her blog post and the adorable Frenchie and gorgeous flowers will certainly refresh your memory! There is something so special about having the privilege of photographing multiple siblings from the same family  — you already know (and in this case, love!) the family and have the opportunity to reconnect with everyone on the big day. I can’t wait to see Holly and Bob, and am happy to know those two can rest a bit easier in the days leading up as Raspberry Plain has a great backup plan for inclement weather ;) And I’m obviously hoping Lily’s vivacious spirit graces us on the dance floor again! 

But Kaylie and Jake have their own story and it’s definitely one for the books. These two officially met online, but fate wouldn’t have had it any other way. These two attended;/ JMU at the same time — yep, another JMU couple!! — and while they didn’t specifically know one another there, they had dozens of mutual friends and are sure to have crossed paths at one point or another. The crazier coincidence, however, is that their parents are actually friends! Friends who, many years ago, attended one another’s wedding! Doesn’t that just blow your mind? Sure, these two knew when meeting that they had some friends in common, but I bet never in their wildest dreams did they know how close their pasts would be connected. Fate/coincidence/destiny… call it what you will, but I think that is just one of the coolest backstories of all time. 

Kaylie and Jake, it was such a joy to catch up with the two of you and hear how wedding planning has been progressing! June is going to be here before all of us know it and I can’t wait to see your families at Raspberry Plain for the big day!
