I am beyond excited to kick of the 2016 season as a Washington, DC wedding photographer with Tyler and Aimee’s March wedding at Top of the Town in Arlington, VA — a place that I’ve always wanted to visit as I’ve heard others rave about the incredible view of the city — so to photograph a wedding there is even more exciting! With their wedding only being a few months away, we wanted to make sure we had their engagement session as soon as possible; Aimee herself said she is NOT a cold weather person (I can totally relate!), so the sooner the better. Well, little did we know, that we would be blessed with the most beautiful Thanksgiving weekend, with temperatures reaching the 70’s!! It was an absolutely perfect day to be on the waterfront in Occoquan Regional Park and explore all the hidden paths this park has to offer. The leaves were showing off those infamous colors of fall and covering the ground with their natural beauty. We were also graced with the most stunning sun set over the river as the perfect end to a wonderful session.
But enough about our session and more about this sweet couple! Aimee and Tyler met at church and quickly formed a strong relationship; coincidentally, they both have families who are located on the west coast, so neither had firm roots in the city until after they met. When Tyler was ready to propose, he enlisted the help of a few friends. He took Aimee for date night at Meadowlark Botanical Gardens in Vienna and planned the box to be waiting for her. With too many people milling about, the location of the box had to be moved at the last minute! But, I think we all know this story ends well :) :)
Tyler and Aimee, I had such a wonderful time getting to know the two of you and cannot wait for your wedding — it will be here before we know it!
