Maddy and Dan had a truly classic black tie wedding in the heart of Washington, DC — we went all over the city, from getting ready at the stunning Fairmont DC, to portraits and the ceremony in Georgetown, and finally to their reception at a historic private club across from the White House. With a wedding party of 20 (not including the bride and groom!), I anticipated it was going to be a really fun day, but they definitely surpassed my expectations.
The weather, surprisingly, played a huge factor in that! Post-Thanksgiving, all bets are off — you prepare for the frigid cold, knowing you have to work quickly as the sun drops by 5PM. Well, it may have been overcast on Maddy and Dan’s day, but the day topped out at 70 degrees!! So while we prepared to walk around the Georgetown waterfront taking coats on and off to keep everyone comfortable, we ended up laughing about the warm breeze coming off of the water. All 22 members of this wedding party were so friendly and welcoming, they treated us like one of the group throughout the entire day as we moved from stop to stop.
The sun finally set as we arrived at St. John’s in Georgetown, the historic church where Maddy’s grandparents were married many years earlier. After a personal and romantic ceremony, everyone headed to the reception where the night really began :) Maddy and Daniel met while attending VCU in Richmond, she was in a sorority and he in a fraternity. It was only natural that they had many friends in common, so the wedding (specifically the dance floor!) was basically a mini reunion. I truly had a blast celebrating with these two and their friends and couldn’t have asked for a more perfect November day!!
A huge thank you to these vendors for making Maddy & Daniel’s wedding amazing! And to Emily Marie Photography for being an awesome second shooter!
