I absolutely love shooting in new locations — don’t get me wrong, I definitely have some favorites like the sweeping fields of Manassas Battlefields or the city feel you can get in Old Town Alexandria — but when I’m exploring a new place with my couple, I always feel like I have a chance to spark some creativity. So when Carly & Brian wanted to have their engagement session near their home on the bay in Maryland, just outside of Baltimore, I couldn’t agree fast enough. They chose three beautiful locations — a secluded beach on the Chesapeake Bay, a charming golf course, and the historic Ballestone Manor (which we were lucky enough to see decorated for the holiday season!). The session was even more special as this place clearly had a special meaning to them as a couple; it’s the golf course where Brian and Carly walk their sweet rescue pup, Lucy, and the beach where Brian asked Carly to be his forever with the most stunning sapphire ring. I obviously believe that engagement sessions always have a purpose, as they allow me to work with my couple before the big day and provide them images for their save the dates and wedding websites; but knowing that these specific images will always be cherished as a moment in their daily lives makes them even more important! And as they walk those trails this snowy winter that is sure to come, they can remember how they laughed during their session and how they felt with their fingers laced inside the others. 

Carly & Brian, thank you for showing me around your hometown on the most beautiful December afternoon and catching me up on all your wedding plans! I can’t wait to see the three of you (that’s right, Lucy will be at the wedding!) this August to celebrate the big day — I can’t wait to see what you and Kari dream up!
