I can’t even start this post without talking about the name “thing”! See in all my years as a Washington, DC wedding photographer, I never worked with an Alicia before and was so excited when I first got an e-mail from her. Not that we have an uncommon or unique name, but it’s just that weird “thing” like when you find out someone has the same birthday or something; an automatic connection! So I already knew I liked Alicia, but after Skyping with her and Ian for the first time, I could also quickly tell that they were such a perfect match and would be a fun couple to work with over the coming year. Not to mention that they both love to travel and have been all over the world together; including their upcoming honeymoon which will take them to Australia, Fiji, and New Zealand!
Alicia is so incredibly thoughtful; she brought me the MOST delicious Trader Joe’s treat ever, which if you know me at all — food, especially from Trader Joe’s cannot be beat. But Ian himself has some tricks up his sleeve as well. This summer, these two took a trip to Europe visiting Norway for a marathon and then heading to Germany and France for some sightseeing. It was at the end of the trip, at the top of the Eiffel Tower, where Ian planned to ask Alicia to be his wife. Their guide held his phone and recorded the entire proposal so they could remember that moment in time forever. I mean really, can you think of anywhere more romantic than Paris!?
After over a year of long distance, these two are finally settled in the DMV and planning their wedding for next October at Stone Manor Country Club. Alicia has an incredible eye (wait until you see her gorgeous outfits!) and attention to detail, so I have absolutely no doubt it’s going to be a perfect day!
