After many, many months of “no”, I found out I was pregnant on February 14th, 2017. When I finally heard that “yes” that we had been longing to hear for far too long, I was completely dumbfounded; I didn’t really know what to say or do next! I found out via a phone call from my doctor’s office (I truly did not pee on a single stick that month, I just waited for the blood work!), so I knew I wanted to surprise Rob and wrote it into his Valentine’s Day card. It was such a sweet day and the beginning of our journey as parents to this little nugget.
We waited those nine, long months to call him ours, but from the moment he arrived, we were completely smitten. (Fun Fact: Landon didn’t have a name for almost 24 hours! We had it narrowed down to Landon or Gavin (we knew the middle name would be James, after our alma mater), but couldn’t pick between the two! I think we made the right choice :) ) It’s crazy how fast you fall in love with this tiny little human. All you want is to cuddle their tiny, soft body and soak up their sweet scent. Those first few days I couldn’t get enough of his long toes, pouty lips, and fuzzy hair — heck, even those middle of the night cries had me cooing! The day we were released from the hospital was completely surreal; we kept joking that we felt like we were stealing a baby with how easily we were able to just walk out the front door! We also wondered if they forgot to send us home with the manual of what to do next…
The next two weeks were a complete blur. Thankfully we had the incredibly talented Danielle Hobbs and Laura Gordon capture some memories for us of our tiny boy. Looking back now, just three months later, it’s hard to believe he was ever that tiny. It’s been such a joy watching him grow literally right before our eyes. And seeing Granger become a big sister has been a wonderful experience as well. I won’t lie — there are days (er, nights) that are feel so hard — but the reward? There is nothing in the world like it. I read an article shortly before Landon was born about how sometimes the days may seem long, but the weeks are short and that couldn’t be more true of our experience so far. We’ve been really intentional about trying to make each and every moment together count. Here are some of my favorite memories from the past three months!
