Welcome to my blog, where I share highlights of everything from my client's wedding days and portrait sessions, to recent features and our adventures around the world.

Hi, I'm Alicia.

Holiday Cookies

Dec 23, 2015

If you’ve been following along on Instagram, you may already know what’s been happening in my kitchen the past few weeks — lots and lots of Christmas cookies! I love baking all year (obviously!), but there is something special about sharing it with our friends, families, co-workers, and neighbors this time of year. It’s a tradition in our house to bake all day, every day for an entire weekend while watching seasonal movies and indulging in a nap or two. And every year, I make the same recipes — so people know what’s coming, but since it’s only once a year they are always excited for a taste of their favorites (it’s actually become a bit like that Friends episode where Monica makes the holiday candy!). Then Rob and I spend the next week trying to avoid the pantry so we don’t eat them all ourselves and end up failing miserably. I wanted to share all of my favorite recipes and a few notes on each in case you ever wanted to try a new cookie, all of which have been thoroughly taste tested ;)  Enjoy!

A Washington, DC wedding photographer who also loves to bake shares her annual go-to cookie recipes for the holiday season.

Red Velvet Crinkle Cookies | These are always my most popular cookies of the season which is funny because they are also the easiest… they are made with CAKE MIX!!!!
Levain Bakery Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies | If you’ve ever been to this New York bakery, you know they make some of the best cookies on the east coast — now you can make them at home! They are like small cakes! A Washington, DC wedding photographer who also loves to bake shares her annual go-to cookie recipes for the holiday season.
Peanut Butter Cup Blossoms | The only way to make the original version better of these was to add more peanut butter and Reese’s cups did just!
Holiday White Trash Mix | You can literally make this recipe in minutes! It looks adorable packaged up in mason jars with a cute ribbon for easy gifts!
M&M Kiss Pretzels | You can make these with Hugs, Kisses, or even Rolos! The kisses won’t look ready but I promise they are — if you over bake, they get crumbly! A Washington, DC wedding photographer who also loves to bake shares her annual go-to cookie recipes for the holiday season.
Chocolate Chip Cookie | My secret is to use the holiday chocolate chips to make them more festive! And be sure to follow the refrigeration times, that’s what makes these so special!
Cinnamon Chip Crescents | The perfect breakfast during the holidays! Make sure you heat these up before eating!
