If you’ve been following the blog for a while, you’ve probably noticed that Rob and I enjoy going on trips that involve lots of travel and adventure; within the past few years, we have been on several trips that have taken us all over Europe, the United States, and even New Zealand.  I love something about the fast-paced nature of those travels — I’m not generally a person who does well with sitting still and so, call me crazy, but island hopping in the Caribbean and sitting on the beach just isn’t for me! There’s always been one exception to that rule, of course, and that is Hilton Head Island in South Carolina. We’ve taken several trips to HHI with my sweet parents and just keep finding more reasons to return.  Maybe it’s the Spanish moss or empty beaches or endless about of amazing restaurants or maybe it’s just nostalgia, but something about that place holds a special place in my heart. 

This year, however, was even more special than ever before — it was our first real trip with Landon and his first time at the beach! I won’t lie, he definitely gave us a run for our money on the car ride down (a 9-hour drive with a wiggly 10-month-old… it’s hard to believe we survived!), but it was absolutely worth it. There was something so incredible about experiencing everything with him for the very first time. Whether it was going to the beach, watching him play in the sand with grandma and grandpa, riding bikes around our neighborhood (his flame helmet was about the cutest thing ever), or just floating in the pool, everything seemed like a new experience because we got to see it through his eyes. And to make thing even better? Granger got to come with us as well! These two had a blast playing on the beach; I think Landon may have actually liked playing in the waves more than Granger! 

The goodbye was bittersweet as always, but knowing we are heading back in less than 365 days makes it a little more bearable!
