I met Kristen and Brooks in downtown Washington, DC at the iconic monuments for a beautiful sunrise engagement session. The previous evening’s forecast mentioned the threat of possible thunderstorms that morning, but we were greeted with a cool, dry morning. As DC was prepping for Fourth of July celebrations in the days ahead, we avoided all the barriers and started in the Constitution Gardens where we had the place all to ourselves, save for a few squirrels and ducks. The sun peeked out just as we arrived and made for a dreamy glow throughout the rest of the session.
DC holds a special place in Kristen and Brooks’ lives as it’s where they met, live, and will be married. It also happens to be the very place that they were engaged! After a postponed anniversary celebration last spring, they ended up at the Tidal Basin right during peak cherry blossom bloom. And, if you’ve ever visited the beautiful blossoms, you know that the sidewalks are literally wall to wall with people and you can barely move around one another! Kristin was ready to head home, but Brooks was insistent that they continue walking. He had his brother hiding out so that when he got down on one knee, someone would be there to capture the moment. He found just the spot — away from the crowds — and finally popped the question! Both of their families knew the proposal was coming and were elated when the newly engaged couple shared the joyous news!
Kristen and Brooks will be married this coming spring at the Meridian House in Washington, DC and we all had one wish — that the next time we saw one another, none of us needed to be wearing a mask! Looking forward to celebrating with their families alongside the fabulous ladies at Cherry Blossom Events!
