I posted last week about my first ever session on film here; I was so excited after shooting that session that I texted my friend Emily (the super talented baby & birth photographer behind Emily Gerald Photography) to see if she would be willing to throw on her beautiful wedding dress for me as well. She is sweet and not only agreed immediately, but even got her husband, Mark, to come as well! It was one of those rare weekends in December where the temperature still gets up to like 50 degrees and the sun is shining; since we only live a few minutes apart from one another, I thought a sunrise session would be a great idea! It turns out, even if it’s going to be 50 in the afternoon it is still FREEZING in the morning (duh, Alicia). She and Mark were such troopers the entire time and I paid them handsomely in cookies & beer for being so patient with me.
See, the biggest difference for me between film and digital is in regards to posing. Every single image you snap costs money; meaning no more “click, click, click” in hopes of getting things right. I basically have one shot to get everything perfect from head to toe. Needless to say, I am moving much slower and more methodical in my posing — checking everything from head angles and hand placement to how the dress is laying and is the ring showing? It takes me quite a bit of time to get this all set up as I’m still learning this new process, so to say these two were patient is definitely an understatement! Emily & Mark, I appreciate you two helping me with my passion project (and freezing your butts off for me) more than you could ever know!!
