I posted about the fabulous Downton Abbey wedding styled shoot I helped put together last September just an hour outside of Washington, DC, but what you guys don’t know is that before that I actually got help with another styled shoot, assisting the lovely Megan Chase. Her vision was for a classic Southern styled shoot, complete with Georgia peaches, sweet tea, and a biscuit bar. As you’ll see in the images below, it came together flawlessly — the result of a well-thought out theme and months of planning by a handful of vendors. Much like a wedding day, it looks like it was a breeze to throw together in a matter of hours, but as anyone who has planned a styled shoot knows, that is definitely not the case! So many vendors freely give up and their time and energy to contribute to your vision that you want to ensure you are doing them justice. That isn’t to say on a wedding day you don’t have the same goal, but sometimes things can be a bit more rushed as you are limited by the timeline (which is why it is so important to establish that early on with you bride as talked about here!!), so while you’d like to spend an hour shooting details, it may just not happen!
A styled shoot though, you have much more freedom to be a bit more experimental –getting creative and artistic shots and playing around with new angles or poses. It’s a great way to grow as an artist and ensure you are making time to shoot things that YOU love! For all the countless hours and hard work that is put into a styled shoot, the end result is always worth it! Check out the awesome vendors that Megan worked with for this gorgeous Southern Charm styled shoot!
