The first time Emily and I chatted, she had a date and venue in mind, but things weren’t set in stone; she and her mom were heading up to Delaware that weekend to finalize their search and hopefully find the perfect fit. I think it’s safe to admit now that I selfishly hoped it would be a date I was available — I liked Emily right off the bat and could tell we had similar tastes and personalities which always makes for a good relationship. So when they landed on Greenville Country Club on one of my available Saturdays next July, I was ecstatic — I had a great time getting to know Emily and Robbie and knew these two would be a fun and caring couple to work with.
I had actually photographed, without knowing it, these two once in the past! They were friends with a past couple who’s wedding I shot at a private residence in Annapolis, MD. I even remembered some of the photos I took of these two dancing without realizing it at the time! It’s so funny the connections you make being a Washington, DC wedding photographer. It truly is such a small world and circumstances like these only make it feel smaller!
Our engagement session alone was the start of that fun! It was a bit of an adventure — from Emily’s sweet style and face you’d never know, but she’s a little bit of a rebel, which I love — and probably explains how her and Robbie actually met on a blind date! I’m pretty sure throughout the session I asked her to tell me every little detail of the wedding (not to mention exactly where she bought all her gorgeous outfits) and just had such a good time finding pretty look nooks throughout Georgetown — seriously, you wouldn’t believe where some of these were shot, and these two were up for whatever I had in mind! If this session is any indication, their wedding is going to be an amazing day!
